Can I Tell You a Secret?

Can I tell you a secret?

Okay… are you listening? There will be good days and bad days. There will be days that you don’t want to work. Sometimes, it can be so hard to pour your heart into your dreams. But that one day that you put your dreams off, that turns into two days, three days, a month. That is when you give up. And getting back up when you are completely down- is much harder than just being a step or two behind.

Get up! Go out and get what you want and what you deserve.

The past few days I’ve just been struggling with life, with upcoming changes, and even though I’m excited I can’t say that I’m not nervous. But what I keep telling myself is the second that I let myself take my next leap I’ll be wondering why I didn’t do it sooner!

This is a repeating theme in life. There is a constant need and want for change. At the same time, a constant need and want for the same things. As people, we love the day to day routine because it’s just so easy. (If you need some work-life tips check out my 5 tips on being a bold, beautiful young professional!)

No matter how hungry you can be for your success, there are always times that you tell yourself that you can’t do something- or life hits hard and is holding you back.

I had a bad week last week and just overall not felt I was not enough. I made myself destress, disconnect so I didn’t burn out, and told myself that I deserve to have a good time!

We’re all imperfectly perfect. We all make mistakes, and some people don’t always agree with what we’re doing or where our dreams are going. But don’t let that make you have a bad day. You are enough, your dreams are worth it, and so are you.

Happy restart to the week! (Does anyone else love Mondays as much as me?)

One of those mornings coffee

One of Those Mornings- And a Spilt Cup of Coffee

It was one of those mornings. You have 1000 things to do and you’ve already woken up late. You skip the shower and swap for dry shampoo. Your makeup routine becomes nonexistent, and coffee becomes breakfast.

This morning that was me. My alarm went off at 7:45- and I decided to spend 25 extra minutes in bed. Almost every morning, I get lost on Instagram, checking my blog stats, updating my email, and watching videos on Facebook.

Now, it’s 8:05. I plan my outfit and check the clock- it’s 8:17. Seriously where does time go in the morning? When you have somewhere to be it always goes by too quickly. I grab my towel and knock over all of shampoos (probably waking up my roomie) and hop into the shower. When I rush out of the bathroom- I quickly throw on my favorite little black dress, a jean jacket, and my favorite sandals (from Target) on.

I run downstairs quickly feed my cats- make myself a coffee, hairspray, clean up my mess from last night, and I’m out the door at 8:54. Besides being late, I’m already feeling stressed about the day, I have meetings, calls with my team, and a million things to do in between…

I spill my coffee.

That feeling is the worst. I’m already late world, thanks for making me even more late- and now I have hot coffee all over my leg and on my steering wheel and the day is ruined. We’ve all been there right?

Sometimes, I forget the big picture. No, My crazy morning will not ruin my day.

So what do I do to take back my day?

  • Take a deep breath. I just stop and tell myself, “I’m already late what is one more minute?” Because seriously, the world will not stop if I show up a few minutes late.
  • Put self motivation on! I’ll throw on a podcast by one of my favorite motivators! Rachel Hollis, Grant Cardone, Tony Robbins, are always ready to go on my Spotify.
    • Tony always says, “Motion is created by EMOTION,” so what emotion will define your day?
  • Listen to your favorite song in the car on repeat, way too loud for your commute or drive!
  • Lastly, and most importantly, plan something fun later on in the day! (And if that is popping your favorite bottle of wine and eating ice cream for dinner you go girl!)

I’m not an expert at ‘adulting,’ you’ll always hear me admit! But I’ve found so many ways to take back my day after I’ve spilt my coffee.

What are your tips on making the most of your day?

So I've been single

So I’ve been single…

Well for those of you that don’t know- I’ve been single for almost a year to date now. I decided I needed some time for myself after a 5 year relationship ended for the better, I had to figure out what I wanted- more importantly who I wanted in my life.

And no, this is not an “I’m single and I’ve been loving it- here’s why you should too,” kind of blog. To be honest, I haven’t really loved it. I think it’s a topic that none of us really talk about at our age or in our generation. It seems like most of my friends are engaged, getting married, or in a long term relationship.

I was there too. I thought I would be engaged by now. But I know that what I decided to do was for the better for me and for my life.

As a young professional and a very independent young woman, I think that it’s very important to talk about being single. Also, I am truly hoping that some of my stories and advice will be able to help you out. It’s been quite an adventure for me.

There’s been ups, downs, maybe a few tears, bad dates, great dates. Well, a lot of bad dates. I felt like I was coming back into the dating world with zero experience. I left my boyfriend whom I had met in high school 6 years ago. At first I wore my heart on my sleeve and trusted too many guys who didn’t deserve a minute of my time.

All of that has lead me to where I am today- a place that I wouldn’t be without the support of my co-workers, community, friends and family. I want you to know that you aren’t alone. That it is okay to be single, and most importantly that you have to be happy with who YOU are. So you can find a man that is worth your time. Trust me girl, you are worth it.

I can’t wait to continue this series with you! Now… where can I even begin…

Never apologize for being yourself- Alexa

Never Apologize for Being Yourself

“I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.” -Audrey Hepburn

Being yourself can sometimes be the hardest thing to do. It’s so easy to decide to fit into the mold of everyone else, follow what they are doing, and live life in the main stream.

From personal experience growing up, I always wanted to be this way too. I wanted to wear what was in style, listen to all of the music that everyone else was listening to, and follow the trends of the ‘popular’ girls. It’s easy to want to reach to be someone who isn’t yourself.

This past year, I really decided to change that mindset in myself. When I graduated college I realized that none of that mattered. No seriously- listen to me, it does not matter. I think that we all need to stop making it so hard for people to go outside of the norm. Continue reading

You See My Highlight Reel

We see it everyday- the picture perfect Instagram. All of the photos have the same filter, they all match perfectly, thousands of likes and followers on every pic. A big thing that I think we all forget while looking at accounts like this- this is a highlight reel. Behind every great insta, there’s always a normal person.

I say this personally and know that so many of my co- workers, fellow entrepreneurs and bloggers feel the same way.

My Instagram is the place where I market my personal brand, my company’s brand, and all of my adventures. Of course it’s going to look great! What you usually don’t see on my insta, me on the couch talking to potential business partners- surrounded by papers, books, my laptop, oh and a few cats. Some days I’m running on keto coffee, 3 hours of sleep, and I’ve used up all of my dry shampoo (we all know the struggle).

I’m not complaining, don’t get me wrong! I love everyday of being an entrepreneur. Most days it is a lot of work, it’s a lot of hours into making my dream a reality. When you have a drive for something it’s easy to get the hunger to make it happen.

With every great adventure, picture, and story, know that there is hard work behind that. There are days that I never leave the office or my house. Even the days that I am ready for a pic, there’s always bloopers behind that perfect shot!

When at Brunch…

“Work hard, brunch harder”

One of my favorite weekend pass times- Brunch. (Bottomless mimosas at brunch are also always welcome). My team decided to meet and celebrate some amazing promotions that happened last month, and to share ideas on how we can all grow our business.

I was sipping on my cappuccino and sharing all of the great things that happened in the past 30 days, and all of the amazing things that are coming, when it hit me. All of the women sitting at our table are all making a full time income from our phones. On top of that, 6 figures from our phones. Kind of crazy right?

We all started in the same spot. Unhappy, broke, trying our best to get by and finish college. And now, we all know that we’re in exactly the place we’re supposed to be! all of us are from different backgrounds. Emily, one of my best friends in this business was a criminology major. She’s now #21 in this company.
