Live Your Daily Mantra

When I wake up in the morning I always try to start my day on a positive note. What you speak becomes your reality. I’ve truly learned that from constantly listening to self development and reading books upon books.

Right now, I have so many goals going through my head, so many things that I want to get done- and last night I hit a little bit of a slump. It happens. There is no way that every single day can be perfect. We are our own worst critics and sometimes, we need to get over ourselves. I told myself that I would throw a little pity party last night, bake some brownies, and wake up ready for today. It worked.

It’s okay to give yourself a break and catch a breath when you feel like you need one. Or else you’ll get totally burnt out and not get to where you want to be. But the most important thing to do is never stop.

I decided I was going to write myself a daily mantra for my business- that I could live by very day. We all have a daily mantra for life inside of us. When you wake up what is the first thing you tell yourself? “Today is going to be amazing?” Or “I’m already ready to be back in bed?” Or “Can I just reach this goal already?” See how each sentence in itself sets you up for a drastically different day. And no one sentence can define what you accomplish. If you are like me, there are thoughts constantly popping up in your head.

So what do you tell yourself daily? Even if you have to force yourself to smile in the mirror and say that you will have a good day. Or put on your favorite lipstick, playlist, outfit, or shoes- to spark some positive thoughts.

A lot of you know that I started to journal daily- using my Dream Life Daily Journal! It’s also helped me so much, not only with life and my business but also with my faith. Starting your day physically writing down goals is proven to help you reach them. There’s also daily affirmations to let yourself know that you are capable of what you say you are!

No matter what your goals are, they aren’t easy to achieve without letting yourself know you can achieve them. Stop wasting time wishing you are where you want to be. And start doing!

Write your mantra.

Life at 24… Ready for More!

Birthdays seem to come faster and faster each year. Anyone else feel the same? How am I 24, just yesterday I was still in college, high school. 2009 was 10 years ago. Time flies when you’re having fun I guess!

Truly, I am never the girl who wants to make an entire month out of the day I was born. I just love to know people care about me- a card in the mail is one of my favorite things to get! And of course, spending the day with people I love.

This year, I have high expectations for myself. If you asked me if I thought I would be sitting in my home office today writing this blog as a full time entrepreneur, I probably would’ve said no. But life had other plans for me- in the best way possible!

So many of my friends who are in their mid twenties agree that it is such a crazy and transitional time of life. You start to reach your dreams that you wanted to get to as a kid, or you start to realize you need to go after those dreams. Some of your friends will leave your life, and new ones who have similar aspirations come into your life. You’re either single, or probably at getting ready to be engaged to your significant other.

I’ll leave my 24 year old self a note- for when I look back on this blog in 2020, 24 is going to be a good year for you, keep your head up and your goals set high!

Thank you to all the people who constantly make me a better version of myself and for all the birthday love!

XO

7 Things I’ve Learned Working From Home

November was my first official month of being a full time entrepreneur, and I started to work from home. Running my business full time has been a dream of mine for over 2 years and I still wake up double checking that I’m not late for work!

Network marketing has opened my eyes up to so much more than I ever thought would be possible. At 23 I am able to own my schedule 100%. I no longer have to clock in, I control my paycheck, and I am paying off debt left and right so I can save up to buy my own home. If you asked me 3 years ago what I would be doing as a college grad with a PR degree, I can tell you- I probably never would’ve said this! It’s truly amazing how opportunities fall into your lap and change your life for the better.

Having my business in the palm of my hand is such a blessing. If I want to sit and work at my desk I can, if I want to work in FL on a beach, well that’s an option too!

Last month was truly a learning experience for me (and trail and error) of making the best of my time at home. I’m taking those 30 days to make this month and the next, and the next even better! If you’re transitioning your life to become a full time entrepreneur- or you want to learn a little more about my day to day- here are 7 things I’ve learned working from home:

  1. Time flies when you own your time (and when you’re having fun!). It really does. I wake up before 9 every morning, and somehow the clock hits noon in what feels like an hour. It’s probably because I stop checking the time every 10 minutes to see if the workday is over. I’ve started to plan my days out- so I know how much time I should be devoting to my work/life balance!
  2. You need to be in charge go you! That project you wanted to get done? Yeah. You are the only person who knows about it- and the only person who is in charge of it. Don’t let your own deadlines pass because it will start to ruin the entire point of you working from home. I set myself alarms throughout the day, and write my goals everywhere. DON’T let yourself down!
  3. There will be days you don’t think you can do it- and days you feel like you are a badass. We all doubt ourselves. And even though I know I can do this and the opportunities that I have are now endless… it’s so easy to let self doubt slip in. I have been listening to so much self motivation, talking to mentors, and using the energy from all of my supporters to keep going. Most mornings, I wake up excited and so ready for all of the good things that are coming!
  4. No one cares about your dream as much as you do. One of my absolute favorite quotes from Rachel Hollis. To all the people who talk about my dreams behind my back- just watch me!
  5. You can put your health first. Girl, you have no reason to NOT go to the gym. You now have the time. You can meal prep, learn to cook, write in your journal, take a mental health break, go to the spa, take a bath. Some days I would come home after work, a networking happy hour, starting the day off at 7am with a TV segment and feel so uninspired- on top of being exhausted. After all of that, I I had to run my business. Even if that is still your schedule, give yourself an hour break to RELAX! At home, I always give myself some mid day time for me!  Overworking yourself will not get you where you want to be.
  6. Watch your mentor. Who is the person you look up to the most? One of my mentors makes the most of her days. And will not go to sleep until her daily goals are met. She always works harder than anyone on her team, and dreams harder. Allow your day to be like their day. If they are doing well- mirror that. And if they aren’t, you need a new mentor!
  7. Go out and take on the world. We are given 86400 seconds in a day. I became an entrepreneur to take on every single second and make the most of it. To not be stuck at a job that didn’t fulfill me. To never miss the moments with my family and people I care about the most. (This I need to work on!)

I seriously can’t wait to look back at this blog in 6 months and tell you so much more. I know there will be more lessons learned and more successes coming.

No matter how supportive they are, no matter how much they love you, no matter what— nobody will EVER care about your dream as much as you do! This is YOUR goal and you’re the only one who can see it through. Stay focused, stay motivated, keep going! -Rachel Hollis #GirlWashYourFace

So You’ve Been Meaning To Try ‘It’…

About a year ago, I was not only holding myself back with my business, but also my life. I wasn’t where I wanted to be and I was going through a tough breakup. At that point I didn’t feel like myself anymore. On top of not being mentally healthy, I was also the heaviest I had ever been in my life.

I kept telling myself that I was going to be better the next day, the next week, oh next month will be better. But nothing was even remotely close to where I wanted it to be. I decided I needed to take smaller steps to become a little better every day, and it was not easy. Sometimes I could take a step forward to take 10 steps back.

Nothing drastic happened overnight. It was a lot of little things that I slowly started to do that added up to me realizing that I was happy again. It’s taken almost a year. But step by step I’m making it there.

One of the many ‘little’ things that I added to my week was ballet. My mom asked me if I wanted to do an adult ballet class with her, she ALWAYS wanted to take ballet as a kid but never took a class in her life. How could I not support my mom and learn ballet with her? I used to be a dancer when I was younger, and I can tell you that I am NOT the best at it.

But I love it. During those weeks that I would barely want to get out of bed it was my stress reliever, exercise, and I always left with a smile on my face. After my first class of trying to remember all of the positions, French terms, and slipping my ballet shoes off my feet- I felt myself crying because I was so happy.

It was as simple as that. Adding that one little thing into my week. That change in my schedule fueled me to try more little by little, day by day. I can’t go a week now without scheduling a dance class in.

That was the beginning of my year of trying new things and really stepping out of my comfort zone. It was my choice for me, to make myself happier.

You’ve been meaning to try that new diet, you’ve been meaning to go to that new gym or try that new class, you’ve been meaning to start your new blog… but you don’t.

I seriously ask myself all the time, WHY aren’t you doing that thing that you said you were going to do two months ago. I can think of a million reasons (not very good ones) why I put things off. And then I start, and wonder why I haven’t been doing ‘it’ for months.

We’re all guilty of this pattern over and over. I wish I could tell you a way to break it, but procrastination is just too easy!

What I can tell you- is to go out and give it a try. Maybe this blog today is your reason to finally make that change!

Never apologize for being yourself- Alexa

Never Apologize for Being Yourself

“I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.” -Audrey Hepburn

Being yourself can sometimes be the hardest thing to do. It’s so easy to decide to fit into the mold of everyone else, follow what they are doing, and live life in the main stream.

From personal experience growing up, I always wanted to be this way too. I wanted to wear what was in style, listen to all of the music that everyone else was listening to, and follow the trends of the ‘popular’ girls. It’s easy to want to reach to be someone who isn’t yourself.

This past year, I really decided to change that mindset in myself. When I graduated college I realized that none of that mattered. No seriously- listen to me, it does not matter. I think that we all need to stop making it so hard for people to go outside of the norm. Continue reading
