7 Things I’ve Learned Working From Home

November was my first official month of being a full time entrepreneur, and I started to work from home. Running my business full time has been a dream of mine for over 2 years and I still wake up double checking that I’m not late for work!

Network marketing has opened my eyes up to so much more than I ever thought would be possible. At 23 I am able to own my schedule 100%. I no longer have to clock in, I control my paycheck, and I am paying off debt left and right so I can save up to buy my own home. If you asked me 3 years ago what I would be doing as a college grad with a PR degree, I can tell you- I probably never would’ve said this! It’s truly amazing how opportunities fall into your lap and change your life for the better.

Having my business in the palm of my hand is such a blessing. If I want to sit and work at my desk I can, if I want to work in FL on a beach, well that’s an option too!

Last month was truly a learning experience for me (and trail and error) of making the best of my time at home. I’m taking those 30 days to make this month and the next, and the next even better! If you’re transitioning your life to become a full time entrepreneur- or you want to learn a little more about my day to day- here are 7 things I’ve learned working from home:

  1. Time flies when you own your time (and when you’re having fun!). It really does. I wake up before 9 every morning, and somehow the clock hits noon in what feels like an hour. It’s probably because I stop checking the time every 10 minutes to see if the workday is over. I’ve started to plan my days out- so I know how much time I should be devoting to my work/life balance!
  2. You need to be in charge go you! That project you wanted to get done? Yeah. You are the only person who knows about it- and the only person who is in charge of it. Don’t let your own deadlines pass because it will start to ruin the entire point of you working from home. I set myself alarms throughout the day, and write my goals everywhere. DON’T let yourself down!
  3. There will be days you don’t think you can do it- and days you feel like you are a badass. We all doubt ourselves. And even though I know I can do this and the opportunities that I have are now endless… it’s so easy to let self doubt slip in. I have been listening to so much self motivation, talking to mentors, and using the energy from all of my supporters to keep going. Most mornings, I wake up excited and so ready for all of the good things that are coming!
  4. No one cares about your dream as much as you do. One of my absolute favorite quotes from Rachel Hollis. To all the people who talk about my dreams behind my back- just watch me!
  5. You can put your health first. Girl, you have no reason to NOT go to the gym. You now have the time. You can meal prep, learn to cook, write in your journal, take a mental health break, go to the spa, take a bath. Some days I would come home after work, a networking happy hour, starting the day off at 7am with a TV segment and feel so uninspired- on top of being exhausted. After all of that, I I had to run my business. Even if that is still your schedule, give yourself an hour break to RELAX! At home, I always give myself some mid day time for me!  Overworking yourself will not get you where you want to be.
  6. Watch your mentor. Who is the person you look up to the most? One of my mentors makes the most of her days. And will not go to sleep until her daily goals are met. She always works harder than anyone on her team, and dreams harder. Allow your day to be like their day. If they are doing well- mirror that. And if they aren’t, you need a new mentor!
  7. Go out and take on the world. We are given 86400 seconds in a day. I became an entrepreneur to take on every single second and make the most of it. To not be stuck at a job that didn’t fulfill me. To never miss the moments with my family and people I care about the most. (This I need to work on!)

I seriously can’t wait to look back at this blog in 6 months and tell you so much more. I know there will be more lessons learned and more successes coming.

Some of My Favorite #MondayMotivation

Mondays can be tough. Whether you’re a full time entrepreneur, work a 9-5, or work a few jobs, Monday is always the reset of the work week!

This morning I woke up and all I wanted to do was stay in bed for the morning and push all of my work off until ‘later.’ But, we all know that the words “I’ll do it later,” mean I am putting this off until I actually have to do it- or just put it off forever!

I had to find a way to start my week off with as much energy as I ended my week, so I turned to self motivation! It could be a podcast (my current obsession is the Jennifer Allwood show!), book, or video.

For those of you that haven’t read Girl Wash Your Face… Get. This. Book. Get it right now! I have to say that it has been a game changer for me! And a chapter a day to start the morning has been the perfect way to start the day! I’ve also been reading Mastering Your Inner Mean Girl, and Leave Your Mark!

If books aren’t really your thing (I get it who has time to read!) Videos might be your go to! I’ve tried to stop the mindless scroll on all my social and change it to something meaningful- follow Tony Robbins, Grant Cardone, or Rachel Hollis for some quick videos.

Sometimes it can take just a few minutes to turn your entire day around! You have the power to do that. Know that even on those days that you don’t feel your best- your hustle can’t stop!

One of those mornings coffee

One of Those Mornings- And a Spilt Cup of Coffee

It was one of those mornings. You have 1000 things to do and you’ve already woken up late. You skip the shower and swap for dry shampoo. Your makeup routine becomes nonexistent, and coffee becomes breakfast.

This morning that was me. My alarm went off at 7:45- and I decided to spend 25 extra minutes in bed. Almost every morning, I get lost on Instagram, checking my blog stats, updating my email, and watching videos on Facebook.

Now, it’s 8:05. I plan my outfit and check the clock- it’s 8:17. Seriously where does time go in the morning? When you have somewhere to be it always goes by too quickly. I grab my towel and knock over all of shampoos (probably waking up my roomie) and hop into the shower. When I rush out of the bathroom- I quickly throw on my favorite little black dress, a jean jacket, and my favorite sandals (from Target) on.

I run downstairs quickly feed my cats- make myself a coffee, hairspray, clean up my mess from last night, and I’m out the door at 8:54. Besides being late, I’m already feeling stressed about the day, I have meetings, calls with my team, and a million things to do in between…

I spill my coffee.

That feeling is the worst. I’m already late world, thanks for making me even more late- and now I have hot coffee all over my leg and on my steering wheel and the day is ruined. We’ve all been there right?

Sometimes, I forget the big picture. No, My crazy morning will not ruin my day.

So what do I do to take back my day?

  • Take a deep breath. I just stop and tell myself, “I’m already late what is one more minute?” Because seriously, the world will not stop if I show up a few minutes late.
  • Put self motivation on! I’ll throw on a podcast by one of my favorite motivators! Rachel Hollis, Grant Cardone, Tony Robbins, are always ready to go on my Spotify.
    • Tony always says, “Motion is created by EMOTION,” so what emotion will define your day?
  • Listen to your favorite song in the car on repeat, way too loud for your commute or drive!
  • Lastly, and most importantly, plan something fun later on in the day! (And if that is popping your favorite bottle of wine and eating ice cream for dinner you go girl!)

I’m not an expert at ‘adulting,’ you’ll always hear me admit! But I’ve found so many ways to take back my day after I’ve spilt my coffee.

Never Apologize for Being Yourself

Being yourself can sometimes be the hardest thing to do. It’s so easy to decide to fit into the mold of everyone else, follow what they are doing, and live life in the main stream.

From personal experience growing up, I always wanted to be this way too. I wanted to wear what was in style, listen to all of the music that everyone else was listening to, and follow the trends of the ‘popular’ girls. It’s easy to want to reach to be someone who isn’t yourself.

This past year, I really decided to change that mindset in myself. When I graduated college I realized that none of that mattered. No seriously- listen to me, it does not matter. I think that we all need to stop making it so hard for people to go outside of the norm. Continue reading

5 Tips on Being a Bold, Beautiful, Young Professional

So you want to be a successful young entrepreneur?

Me too.

We all go through that phase in college where we’re trying to find not only what we want to do, but also how we’re going to crush our careers and be the best that we can possibly be. When we’re then given a diploma, it can be scary standing in that doorway not knowing where we will be taking the next steps in our lives.

No one is an expert at their field when they first start a career path. I’m deciding daily what I want to do and what my next grand idea will be. I’m telling you that it’s OKAY to constantly change what you want. It’s even okay to mess up 100 times and then decide finally what you want to do. It is useless if you aren’t actively trying to figure out what you want to do. I don’t know about you, but I never want to find myself sitting in a cubicle wondering where the last 20 years of my life have gone.
